VOCAL FIREWORKS!

Long time Music Directors at Pinnacle Presbyterian Church Brent and Marilyn Hylton have invited former soloists of the Chancel Choir to return and present a concert with Pinnacle's current soloists. Jeff Jones, baritone, is Music Professor at Coastal Carolina University; Sean Clark, tenor, sings with the Canadian Opera Co.; Jennifer Allen, mezzo-soprano, is establishing a career on the East coast; Ryan Keller, tenor, is forging a singing career in the Midwest; and Kira Rugen, soprano, returns after earning a doctoral degree in choral conducting. All will join forces with current soloists Adrienne Goglia, Valerie Perkins, Andrew Peck and Toby Kidd to present an evening of stellar vocal music accompanied by the Hyltons. With repertoire ranging from opera arias to Broadway hits, there is sure to be something for everyone, and the vocal fireworks when they all sing together are not to be missed!

UNIQUE DOUBLE NECK GUITAR

Based in Charlotte, NC, Mark Kroos is one of the only people in the world touring with a double neck guitar. His style is characterized by open harmonies, polyphonic textures, incredible tapping technique, and is as entertaining to watch as it is to hear. His performances burst with energy and magnetism not typical of solo guitar music. Drawing influence from folk, Celtic, indie and even punk rock artists as well as other great guitarists, Mark Kroos has developed his own edge to the acoustic guitar. In July 2011 Mark took first place in Guitar Play Magazine’s International Guitar Superstar Competition in Nashville, prompting critics to claim his sensitivity to the music and positive energy to be truly refreshing.

CLASSICAL MUSIC UNDER A NEW LENS

Classical Revolution PHX presents a mix of artists and ensembles programming original works and arrangements in a variety of styles. They seek to emphasize the fun and power of classical compositions performed in a casual manner, breaking down the traditional expectations of classical music by taking it into the community - on public transportation, into pubs, open spaces, alternative venues and beyond - to expose the art form to new audiences. In 2013, they received Phoenix Mayor Greg Stanton’s Arts Award for Music Organization. Featured at this concert are Clarinets for Conservation; Christopher Charbonneau and Hanah Vutipadadorn, saxophone and piano duo; Jennifer Bindel, collaborative piano and vocalist; and the Classical Revolution PHX String Quartet.
