AND ALL THAT JAZZ
Few names in the jazz community command more respect than Charles Lewis, the first jazz-category inductee of the Arizona Music and Entertainment Hall of Fame. Born in Philadelphia, Charles began performing on piano at church functions when he was only seven years old. He moved to Arizona in 1953 to attend ASU and formed The Charles Lewis Quintet after playing with several other bands first. The current quintet includes critically acclaimed flutist Joe Corral, the multi-talented Frank Smith on alto/tenor sax and flute, Dwight Kilian, one of the Southwest’s finest jazz bassists and Dom Moio, one of the Valley’s most in-demand drummers. Together they present an evening of unforgettable jazz music.
